While you’re dusting those lights off (we just put ours up this weekend), getting the advent calendars filled and shopping shopping shopping, don’t forget to stop by Brickelltown Christmas, a weekly celebration through December 18 at Truckee’s most artsy hood. Vendors with unique handmade goods, carolers and even Santa will be there for photo ops at this Friday’s soiree.

Be there! Fridays from 4–8pm. 10382–10368 Donner Pass Road in Truckee

Get ready, the holidays are approaching fast! And to help you get your cards out in good, crafty fashion—and on time—Brickelltown Crafternoons is hosting a Holiday Card Making Class tomorrow, Monday November 23, 4:30–7:30 pm, at the Brickelltown compound in downtown Truckee. Linocut stamps, fabric and recycled paper are just a few of the items available to embellish cards, and the goal is for each person to make at least 15.

Next week’s Brickelltown Crafternoon brings the basics of screen printing with Bryan Hassemer of Green Bikes North Tahoe. I’ve admired his work for some time now (see his designs at Truckee’s Riverside Studios), and plus he’s just an all-around amazingly nice person. In fact, he was instrumental in helping my old roommate screenprint the save-the-dates for her wedding. Think of what he can teach you!
Here are the details for the class; RSVP today as spots fill up.

Woo hoo! It’s time for another Brickelltown Crafternoon already! You know I’m a sucker for the crafty ways of the Brickelltown shop owners, so I’ll be there for sure. Plus, I can’t break my streak now; I’ve made it to all the Crafternoons thus far.

Here’s the skinny if you’d like to join me:

I’m reveling, big time, in the jewelry I made this past Tuesday at Brickelltown Crafternoons‘ recycled jewelry making class with Lorien Powers of Drake & Lulu’s Art Shed. I not only got to repurpose my chunky apricot chain necklace into a pair of rocking earrings, I scored a pair of wooden whales for which I crafted loops and found a new home for the mini harmonica Chris gave me. Woo hoo! Plus, my partners in craft, Hanni and Chelsea, made use of feathers, leather and antique silver plates.

Seriously people. Someone snuck into my room at night, snatched my dreams and then wrapped them up in this cute little Crafternoon package. I am so excited I want to run outside with my spray paint and go crazy… but that would just be silly, and wasteful.

I’ve always wanted to take a printmaking class with Sierra Nevada College’s Mary Kenny. Now, I can at Brickelltown’s first Crafternoon session. I’ve already RSVPed. You should too!

Please note the time is incorrect on the flyer. Class is from 4:30 to 7pm, same date.
