My latest block print design is the outline of Lake Tahoe filled with a Christmas sweater pattern. I drew it all by hand, and carved it on a linoleum block. I printed the green trees separately from a free carve quick-cut on Speedball EasyCut rubber. Due to the detail in the design, this takes much longer to print successfully, but I love the result! Pick this design up in postcard form at Riverside Studios in downtown Truckee.

Made this custom, carved stamp for my friends at Big Truck Headwear. Best hats on the planet!

body talk stamp
Just finished this commissioned stamp for Brooke Butler of BodyTalk Tahoe. Brooke practices this very interesting form of therapy that uses neuromuscular biofeedback and reiki techniques to determine broken energy circuits and help your body repair them. A designer came up with this logo for her and it correlates to that flow of energy on some level. Pretty fun one to carve!
A recent BodyTalk session with Brooke left me feeling great: lightened, with less static and chatter in my mind. She left me with this phrase that came to her in my reading: It’s safe to feel free. hmmm….
new on etsy: custom rubber stamps
Hop over to my Etsy shop today for an exciting new listing: custom rubber stamps!
Inspired by my recent commission for my friend Olivia, I decided to make these available for all! Olivia came to me a few weeks ago in need of 3 wedding gifts. I carved out stamps for each couple, then Chris made these super fabulous redwood toppers for the rubber. exciting…
{postcard of the week} greetings from lake tahoe
Well, I’m back from my trip to Boulder. Such a different world there: street performers, crowded restaurants, jam-packed yoga classes, flat residential neighborhoods with blocks and blocks of houses, bike-friendly everything, and flowers!
While it was fun, I’m happy to be home to my simple, quiet life in Tahoe Pines and thus finished this simple Lake Tahoe stamp today. You can’t tell in the photo, but the lake is printed in a pearlescent blue so it shimmers. I plan to get these in some tourist spots for visitors to have a homemade postcard souvenir option. Note: lake is not to scale!
the crafting continues
A new commission came my way last week, and *poof* I’m all jazzed up on block printing again. Here’s a shot of a piece I did a bit back for Chris and Mayumi at Moonshine Ink. Their logo was just crying to be inked! Stay tuned for the revealed commission (3 wedding gifts) as well as a new Tahoe stamp I’ve been working on…

it’s snowing
Well, not here in Tahoe at the moment, but in my Etsy shop: I just posted a listing for my snowflake card set. The stamp was one of my first creations, and I used it for Christmas gift wrap decorating. Now, it can be yours in a few short clicks!
Also, stay tuned for the January 12 unveiling of a super exciting design I completed last night!
_____smith debuts on etsy
I finally did it… though it’s just one measly listing so far, I thought I’d share the news: I am now an Etsy seller!
My first listing is my blooming cactus print. I originally created this stamp for my Christmas cards, but replaced the gold star with some blooms for year-round appeal.
