A storm of epic proportions is currently bidding my friend Ruth farewell. She starts culinary school in Napa next week, so I figured I’d dedicate this week’s postcard (of Ruthie’s Run) in her honor. Hooray for friends on powder days!

Grandma Daisy turns 90 today! How lucky I am to have such an amazing person in my life… I can’t begin to list all the things I’ve learned from her. She is truly the best! Her love of nature trumps all, and I have the best memories of digging and poking around in the dirt with her. She can name every plant in her yard, is a voracious reader and has the sweetest heart. Here’s to another 10 years in the garden grandma!
My birthday gift to her this year is this mountain goat block print since my mom told me Daisy had started referring to herself as a mountain goat. he he!

The birthday gods are smiling upon me this year… Renegade Craft just announced their 2010 fair dates and will be in San Francisco on July 31 and August 1. Looks like handmade mayhem (more than 225 vendors), but since I missed this past year, I really really really wanna go.

Well, not here in Tahoe at the moment, but in my Etsy shop: I just posted a listing for my snowflake card set. The stamp was one of my first creations, and I used it for Christmas gift wrap decorating. Now, it can be yours in a few short clicks!

I finally did it… though it’s just one measly listing so far, I thought I’d share the news: I am now an Etsy seller!
My first listing is my blooming cactus print. I originally created this stamp for my Christmas cards, but replaced the gold star with some blooms for year-round appeal.
*Thought we’d finish off the year with this Southern delicacy since I just bade my mom and brother goodbye after their Christmas visit to Tahoe.

INFO: Mix egg and buttermilk in a shallow dish. Working in batches, dip tomato slices into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip back into dish. Coat with flour mixture. Fry in hot oil (375) in a skillet until browned, turning once with tongs. Transfer to a colander to drain. Yields 6 servings.
