So proud that I just had to share—my first author’s note nod, from Jason Schossler’s Author’s Note in Mud Cakes.

I never met Steve Jobs, but after modeling in 4 projects for Apple, I like to think that he liked me—or at least my face.

What an honor to be so close (if only in image) to such a genius. Here are a few shots I found of my face at Apple keynote addresses. Thanks for the opportunity Steve. And thanks for all you’ve done for technology. My life is surely better for it.

And just like that, I’m a published poet… thanks to Twitter and Veer’s font haiku contest! He he! The challenge? Create a haiku about a font that Veer sells, then tag it with #veerfonts on Twitter. I submitted three in two weeks, and the one above got chosen as a winner this week.

Today, we celebrate the birth of a baby girl! My good friends Zan and Trevor had a cute little 8-pound, 6-ounce bundle at 1:20 a.m. I visited the new family this morning and took a few shots of beautiful baby Makenna.

Makenna also meant a new project for me: a crocheted granny square blanket. Hanni and I cranked out some squares (she did the brunt of that cranking) and then I sewed the whole shebang together. Success! Next up, I’d like to attempt the color block blanket detailed in The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller.

ps. Makenna is wearing a handmade beanie by the talented Tahoe crocheter Jenna Minnes, whose idea it was to make the aforementioned blanket but never got around to hooking a stitch.

popsicles… perhaps the best thing invented for summertime snacking.

I am super excited because a popsicle mold is en route to my address! I am now accepting recipes (via comment) to attempt in my new gadget… come on people, get creative! I will share my batches with each and every one of you (disclaimer: you must live within non-melting distance from my house, or be available to come and get one yourself).

Just a few pictures of Tahoe goodness for all you blog readers out there… This past week has been prime for landscape snapshotting as a rare slosh of clouds came rolling through last Friday, creating what I like to call Tahoe neopolitan: sunset-stained clouds + baby blue sky + eggplant-tinged lake = a trifecta of beauty (see exhibit A).

Exhibit B showcases that classic Tahoe cerulean sky (nary a cloud in sight except for the one-legged potato), snapped above Eagle Lake, just a short hike from Emerald Bay, yesterday.
